The meteoroid that whizzed by Earth last month is officially the fastest ever to make the journey from outer space to our planet's surface, astronomers say.

There was no such damage from last month's speedy meteoroid, but Cooke said researchers are still analyzing data from telescopes and satellites to learn more about its characteristics. For example, they're trying to determine whether it was a rocky or metallic object.
